Idea 1

Go on a blindfolded scavenger hunt.

  • Hide candy in an area

  • Blind fold all the kids and let them find the candy.

  • Ask them, how did it feel to not be able to use your eyes?  How do you think Bartimaeus felt when he was blind?  How did he feel when Jesus healed him?

Idea 2

Read through this story

  • Let the kids colour the story.

  • While they are colouring ask them questions about the story.

  • Who was Bartimaeus?

  • What did Bartimaeus do most days?

  • What did Bartimaeus do when he found out that Jesus was around.

  • What did Jesus do for Bartimaeus?

Idea 3

Guess a number of items by feeling them, but not seeing them.

  • Put a number of ideas into a big bag.

  • Let kids, one at a time put their hands in the bag and guess what objects are in there.

  • Some items may be, a bandaid, tensor bandage, stethoscope

  • Talk about Jesus being a healer.

Idea 4

Draw a picture while blindfolded

  • Work in partners.

  • One of the partners gets blindfolded then is given a piece of paper and pencil.  The other partner gets a picture.

  • Ask the partner with the picture to explain the picture to the blindfolded partner and let them try to draw what is being explained to them.

Idea 5

What do you want?

  • Make a mural.

  • Ask the kids, to draw or write down on mural paper how they would answer if God asked them “what do you want?”

Idea 6

Pray for people who are sick.

  • Take some time and pray for people who are sick.

  • Write down the names of all the people we have prayed for and in the weeks to come, continue to pray and check in on how they are feeling.

Idea 7

Write words on band-aids

  • give each kid a band-aid and let them put it on themselves.

  • let the kids think of something from the story that stood out to them, and write it on their bandaid.

  • It could be things like, Jesus heals, Jesus helps us see, etc.
